Who is the organization Lionheart Africa?
LionHeart Africa is a nonprofit organization based in Switzerland. As a humanitarian organization, we are committed to helping disadvantaged children, youth, and families in Uganda. Our goal is to improve the living conditions of people living in poverty in the long term through sustainable development aid.
Our projects include, among other things, education, food aid, support for people with disabilities, and care for children at the children’s home. In doing so, we work closely with local partners on the ground.
LionHeart Africa has no commercial interests. The organization is recognized as a nonprofit by the Tax Administration of the Canton of Bern and is tax-exempt. Donations to LionHeart Africa are tax-deductible in Switzerland in accordance with legal regulations.
In which countries does LionHeart Africa operate?
Together with our local partners, we support projects in the areas of education, food aid, childcare, and assistance for people with special needs. By focusing on a single country, we can target our resources effectively, better monitor the impact of our projects, and bring about sustainable change for the local population.
How does LionHeart Africa ensure that the money truly benefits people in need?
As a small nonprofit organization, LionHeart Africa has a fairly simple structure. Through targeted oversight and trust in local staff, funds are used effectively on the ground. LionHeart Africa ensures transparency by providing open and regular updates on all its projects.
How much does aid in Uganda cost?
We break down the cost per person supported into three different categories:
CHF 8 per food package (enough for 10–15 days) for one person
CHF 40 per month for a child’s education
CHF 230 per month for childcare at the children’s home
Can I deduct my donation from my taxes?
Yes, donations are tax-deductible in Switzerland. In December 2025, the Bern Tax Administration recognized the LionHeart Africa association as a nonprofit organization and granted it tax-exempt status. We send out a donation receipt annually.
What happens to my data?
We use our donors' data exclusively for the purposes of LionHeart Africa. The data is neither sold nor rented, nor is it shared in any other form with other organizations or provided to companies for commercial purposes.
